Course Outline

Social Studies 11 examines the evolution of Canada politically, economically, socially, and geographically since confederation to present day. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding how a relatively small and fragmented nation in 1896 evolved into the highly developed world power that it is today.

The course is divided into 8 main units:


Before Spring Break:                                              Tests:

  • Unit 1: Pre-War Era
  • Unit 2: WWI                                                    Unit Test at the end for 1 & 2
  • Unit 3: Interwar Period (20s & 30s)
 
After Spring Break:

  • Unit 4: Government
  • Unit 5: WWII                                                   Unit Test at the end for 3, 4, & 5
  • Unit 6: Cold War & 50s
  • Unit 7: 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s                           Unit Test at the end for 6 & 7
  • Unit 8: Human Geography
